What does the University IGP (Indicative Grade Profile) really mean?

I'm looking to apply for Computer Science, so if the IGP for 10th Percentile is 3.65, and 90th Percentile 3.94, if my cGPA is 3.8x, does it mean that 90% will get accepted? huat or not? :D

The IGP just shows the GPAs of poly graduates that entered the respective universities last year.
If your GPA is 3.8, there is a high chance of you getting an offer base on last years accepted GPAs.
- but there will always be that uncertain possibility of rejection. :s22:

The only likely way to get rejected is if the 10th percentile increases over 3.8 right?

Or is there some other hidden clauses that may the reason of rejection like, i'm a chinese and they've hit their chinese quota..:D Just joking, but you get my meaning..

The universities will most likely look at the GPA distribution in your specific course too. For example, if most students in your course got 3.9 and above but you got 3.8, you may not be accepted. If most people in your course got around 3.4 but you got 3.5, you may still get accepted. This is from the observations I got looking at my poly friends' GPAs and their admissions to the big three. However, I have no solid proof for this. Just my casual observations... :D
