Upgrade Graphic Card?

Lost touch with the current HW movement and would like to see if my graphic card "Nvidia GTX260" is good enough with current games example BF4...

Will upgrade just my graphic card to MSI R9 280x make any sense? I hope to run most of my games at max setting.

That philips 27" monitor, is it 1080p or 1440p?

1080p - r9 280x

1440p - r9 290 and above.
