I have two scenarios on upgrading my Hard Disk on a Synology NAS.

1. I have 1x 2TB hard drive on a 2 Bay Synology NAS and its failing soon. I would like to upgrade to a 4TB hard drive. If I simply insert the 4TB drive and copy all the data from the old drive to the new drive, the data will be saved but upon removing my old hard drive, I think the OS and its settings will be gone.

2. I have 2x 4TB hard drive on a 2 Bay Synology NAS and I would like to upgrade to 2x 6TB drive. How should I go about it and upgrade?

1. Perform a disk to disk replication turn it off once done, and swap the 4TB to slot 1.

2. swap them 1 by 1 (I am assuming you are on RAID1)

3. There is already a thread for Synology NAS. Do post your help in there instead - that explains why no one is replying to u
