anybody tried external ssd as boot drive?
is it compatible with bootcamp?

yes & it works
I cloned my existing internal HDD to a 1Tb external SSD.
I can boot from the external SSD after cloning.

My next step is to swap out the internal HDD.

Hello all! I am looking for any lobangs on upgrading my 27" iMac 2010 HDD to SSD or add a SSD to my current config. I called a company and they quoted me 400 for 500GB to replace the SSD. Also, how do you transfer your bootcamp partition to the new SSD? Please advise. Thanks!!

Should be the repair hospital. Inclusive of SSD and installation. However, I just called another guy today. From simply mac. And he is quoted me 480 + 190, SSD + Labor on site, for a 1TB SSD Sandisk.

Also, for the former, they can only replace not add. But the latter is to add another one.
I think I will pick the latter.

Update: Saw from Bigram the 1TB is only SGD359.
