Upgrading of CPU

Hi Guys,

Would like to seek advice whether should I upgrade certain part of my computer or use until spoil?

My main usage are surfing net, youtube, HD movies and sometime play games like PUBG (want to to play the game in better resolution and smoother) Possible to give recommendation?

My current specs as follows:
Intel i5 - 4570
MSI B85-G43
Gigabyte GTX 760 2GB OC
Kingston DDR3 1600 4GB*2
Plextor M5 Pro 128GB / Intel SSD 240GB
SEASONIC M12II 620W BRONZE
LANCOOL K62 (casing)
Window 7

Budget about $700

Add another pair or 2x4GB DDR3 ram of the same model (if possible)

Buy a new GPU like GTX 1060 6GB for 1080p 60hz or GTX 1070 if your monitor is higher res/refresh rate.

Also, maybe increase your storage with a >= 1TB 7200rpm HDD if possible.

Start by upgrading your storage (in capacity to like 1TB) and GFX card first to the latest gen.


No point upgrading your RAM.



Strongly recommend you switch to the latest CPU and MB to start mitigating against performance defects caused by Spectre and Meltdown. You will need to change your RAM to DDR4 as well


That is why I say no point upsizing RAM now.

I would recommend to spend the $700 on a i7 haswell, GTX1060 and maybe some 4Gb*2 ram(same model if possible) since upgrading to ryzen +mobo+8gb ddr4 alr takes up most of your budget, leaving u with your old gtx760 which isn't good in today standard

Haswell i7 performed similarly to ryzen 2400g or ryzen 1500x series , both 4 core 8 threads.

His two SSDs should do fine for now. The budget quite tight tbh

Currently, I think I don't require an addition ssd as I cant even use up the current ssd space that I have (usually will delete unnecessary things).

Is my power supply able to support 1060 or 1070?
As limjialok suggest, power supply able to support i7 haswell?

My psu just spoilt two weeks ago and brought it to Corbell rma. They gave me a (i think) refurbish set.

Yes your 620w is more than enough.

I using a seasoniv s12ii 520w and it powers my i7 4770 and Gtx1060 well

Gtx1070 watt recommended is 500w based on Gtx1070 website
