Hi folks, I am hoping to get some clarification on USB ports on my notebook.

1. Do all notebook USB-C ports accept internal battery charging from external power banks?
2. Is there any distinct difference between a USB-C port and a USB-C port that is labelled as (DisplayPort™)?
3. Can we charge notebooks though a USB-C labelled (DisplayPort™) with external power banks?
4. Can we charge notebooks through the USB 3.0 port?

Question 1 & 4 need to check with your notebook manual book.

Question 2 & 3 is almost a certain no.

It is the Lenovo Ideapad 710s Plus-13ISK.

I am trying to figure out whether my notebook can accept power charging through one of its USB 3.0 or USB-C (DisplayPort™) ports from external power banks, or do I have to bring the default charger along with me on long trips.

I don't think the usb3.0 can even charge fast enough for your usage.

Also,why don't you try charging through usb-c(displayport) with your adapter? *I don't hold responsibility if your laptop or port gone bonkers*
I also don't see how external powerbank can trick your laptop into charging if the adapter can't charge through the displayport.

Some usb phone charger comes with usb-c charger to charge laptop. You can buy that if you feel it is annoying to bring your laptop charger.
Anker has that but they says it works with macbook, so i don't know if it works for lenovo.

I'd recommend bring the power brick.

Provided your notebook uses 12V to charge like MacBook, and your Powerbank can output 12V at the Ampere rating your notebook need, then charging it should be fine. But I wouldn't risk the DisplayPort.

So troublesome should have brought a tablet or surface pro upgrade to Windows 10 pro.
No need worry about the battery.
Powerbank wise try to charge through Wall charger.
There is a USB type C wall charger by Sony.
Used to charger power bank and etc.
Laptop charging by Powerbank I only know MacBook can but others do not know.

Provided your notebook uses 12V to charge like MacBook, and your Powerbank can output 12V at the Ampere rating your notebook need, then charging it should be fine. But I wouldn't risk the DisplayPort.

You are mistaken. I am merely trying to determine what options are available for charging my notebook via the ports that are there.

If you are trying to charge it using 5v power bank for smartphone, it won't work as it required 20v power brick for charging.

You cannot use a charger with lower voltage to charge a higher voltage battery designed for 20v charger circuitry although the battery likely to be 10.8volts only.

Question 1: Check on your laptop manual, it should indicate the power it needs. MOST power banks with Type C input/output can only charge at a rate of 5v 3A max. Giving you 15w worth of power. Hence technically you can use a power bank to charge via Type C to C cable. But at a slower rate than your standard wall charger.

Question 2: Yes there is. However do check your manual first before doing anything. Some models have 2 separate Type C port, one for charging, extension to other dongles and the other for video output only. Best again check your manual so that they can tell you better.

Question 3: Somewhat related to Question 2. Check your manual again.

Question 4: No way you will bother a USB 3.0 to type C charging method. Way toooooooooooo slow. USB Type A 3.0 at most with 56k Ohms compliance will only pull at most 5v 1.5A max. That is 7++ watts which will not be able to charge your tablet at all.
