USB to PS/2 adapter not working

I have a USB keyboard and mouse. Thinking of using the PS/2 ports on my mobo to connect them, I bought USB to PS/2 adapter like the one below:

Connected to mobo, but powered up the system, the keyboard and mouse are not powered up. The red light underneath optical mouse and number lock of keyboard not lighted up.

So the system cannot detect the keyboard and mouse through the adapters connected to PS/2 ports. Did I buy the wrong adapter or I need to configure the BIOS to activate/enable the PS/2 ports? Using AMI BIOS currently.

Someone else tried the same thing and also didn't work. Apparently, at least for Logitech K200 USB keyboard, it is confirmed not to work with PS/2 adapter.
