I got quoted $2k for this build. Is this about market rate now? Future proof for 1440p for next 4-5 years?

Imo not really worth it. But I don't know if hardware prices have increased across the board.

My rig below was bought in Q4 2019 for $2.2k (price inc assembly & delivery)

Asus TUF Gaming X570 Plus Wifi
Ryzen 7 3700X
Corsair H100i Pro AIO CPU cooler
Sapphire 5700XT Pulse
Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB
Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200mhz 16gb (2x8)
Seasonic Focus 650w 80+ Gold
Tecwave Vega L
Windows 10 Pro 64bit Un-activated

may i ask what is your video output expectation or display you plan to use?
monitor size, frequency, resolution.

and games you plan to play?

just off the cuff, yes i think that is the price you'd be paying for a pre-built system.
you just missed Amazon Prime Day last week which had some decent price for storage devices and even RAM.
other stuff i'd say get local.

from Dreamcore or Aftershock?

anyway i bought a 2k PC for my son to play Roblox,,RTX 3060 gaming X 12gig video card (definately under powered), on a 1440p monitor...definitely cannot last 4-5 years for latest games....maybe on a 1080p not so bad...

Rather top up $500 more for a 3070 system if its my system..

No, firstly your GPU is your weakest link. Not going to cut it unless you play MOBA or Counter-Strike. Secondly, your storage - 1 TB is the standard for SSD if you're gaming. Traditional HDD is going to be so slow for loading games. Thirdly, 650W PSU is no longer future proof because newer GPUs require more power. Need at least 850W to be safe.
