I think this model has the infamous super unreliable dry clutch 7 speeder DSG. The 2.0TSI is fine though.

Really big issues, don't touch
My friend has sent his 2010 cc into service center numerous times - VW extended warranty to 5 years, gave him so many taxi vouchers (for each time he sent in, to make up for inconvenience) that can never finish using

Your Friend is lucky to have been given so many taxi vouchers.

Not everyone is given taxi vouchers.

I am still driving my TSI 1.4l.

Reaching my fifth year of ownership.

Mileage is hitting almost 130,000 km.

Changed my DSG mechatronic unit only once at 76,000 km. Still keeping my fingers crossed.

No juddering to date and clutch remains the same piece that was assembled in Germany when it was manufactured in 2011.

Stock car other than Akebono brake pads and GTI shock absorbers.

Car has been with me through B roads to KL, Mersing and various parts of Malaysia. It went with me many rounds of running at Pasir Gudang circuit.

But I have changed out quite a number of parts over the years: water pump, shock absorbers (previously on SRE Kit), master brake cylinder, intake manifold, intercooler, electronic ecu, oil sump, countless pieces of bulbs on all my lights and a number of sets of brake pads (front and rear), etc.

Nope. Mine is the MK6 turbocharged. I only got the turbocharged version due to my concerns of the DSG problem. My opinion and this is just personal and me that the difference in 40 Nm makes a lot of difference.

If I was considering the twincharged, I would have gone for the MK5 since it was using the wet clutch DQ250 gearbox.
