Ways to keep mobile number active?

Is there like number forwarding service for calls and sms (pay to telco and let them forward the info) ?

or just simply port it to a cheap plan to retain it?

For example, it takes time to port over new numbers, some apps use mobile phone for authentication, etc.

any wonderful idea?

The easiest might be to park the number on a cheap eSIM plan with enough benefits that you use. As of now, it's probably $5-6 for senior plans, or around $8 for non-seniors.

Am not sure if you can port in the number on the free plan bundled with some home broadband plans (e,g, M1, SH). This might be the cheapest way to do it.

Meaning if the line is expected not to be used? Can consider like what firesong already shared, park under those cheap cheap <$8 plans, Plenty to choose from, i.e. including but not limited to maxx, CL, Z1, Zym, Vivifi and generally those senior plans that are like $5.

ya. won't be used anymore. think maybe keep for 6 months or a year, will cancel it.
