Currently a Ngee Ann Poly Business Studies student. My GPA is a terribly 3.0 and I'm expecting to graduate with that GPA. Are there any recommendations from ya'll on the Undergrad courses i can take whether its local or overseas that will allow me exemption?
Im interested in HR and also humanities&arts courses such as criminology, sociology, psychology to name a few.
Im open to suggestions ^^
Also money may be an issue since im not that wealthy
1. Ask yourself your motivation for doing these subjects when they neither are useful (in terms of landing a job that remotely resembles what you will study e.g. criminology) nor easy (in order to be a psychologist/psychiatrist you MUST have a MASTERS in Psychology) nor cheap (a sociology degree in a country that does not need or want sociologist, how many do you see standing in parliament). I am of course talking about the singapore context. If you want to leave singapore and never come back, the "rules" above will largely not apply other than the part about the psychology.
2. If you are not rich, are you a guy (get NS officer pay and save every penny), are you Malay, Indian, Teochew or Hokkien? Find as many people that will give you financial aid and/or 0% interest rate loans.
With your GPA and the current crop of A-level students having the best average passing grades, other than SIM you are not assured a place anywhere else. Please look at your other options, RESEARCH and evaluate them for yourself.
It is good to have aspirations but surely you must know the degree and level to which you can aspire to is often not down to merit but how much money you have to spend in the first place. Reality is not nice and the Singapore Education system keeps very quiet on this. Remember a degree does not guarantee nor entitle you to a job. Don't believe me. Believe your next door neighbour that is doing a Masters because he can't find a job.
