If you have crossed the first set of lights at a junction and the lights turned red before you completed the crossing, should you stop before the second set of lights at the other end of the junction or just proceed?

For context, I am referring to the junction of woodlands ave 12 to SLE in the direction of BKE. Cars turn right from woodlands ave 12 to SLE up the filter lane

I notice sometimes some car will breakdown on the filter lane and cars turning right have to stop in between the first set of lights and the second set of lights as they try to wiggle past the broken down vehicle. Then the lights turn red, which means the green man will come on.

Some cars will still proceed (if there are no pedestrians) cos they are already mid junction. Some cars will just stop which means their boots will now go beyond the boundary of the yellow box and obstruct vehicles exiting the SLE to woodlands ave 12.

So who is right? Those who proceeded or those who stopped?

I remember BTT say once you cross the first set of traffic lights you cross the second set as well and not stop in the middle of the junction

Why even need to ask? If its red, you need to stop. You're not talking about getting caught in a junction's yellow box where then you should proceed, you're in a normal lane before the traffic light and stop line. If someone is stuck in the yellow box behind you and obstruct traffic, there's still no offence, you still need to stop even if you block him in the yellow box.

So many years of driving never encountered such a dilemma. Either cross 100% or don't cross.

I think TS over-think.

\edit: i just went into google maps and took a closer look, it's really another set of traffic light junction with pedestrian crossing, even though it's really close to the 1st set of light, like that have to stop definitely when it's red

actually its the same as most expressway junctions.
Apart from the direct filtering out...
there will always be a 2nd set of lights for exiting from expressways into another main road
provided the 1st set turns red before the 2nd to ensure no jam to the junction for the next flow of traffic

Must respect the traffic light...U cross the 2nd traffic light while it is red means U beat red light...simple as that.
U stop behind the traffic light...in front of the yellow box.
If the car behind get stuck in the yellow box as a result of your stopping....that is because the driver beh kan....never anticipate....nothing to do with U.

Not been caught in this situation before but I would foresee that if I cross the first set of light at amber, I will have to stop at the second set of lights and from my observations, it’s an accident waiting to happen because people like to go fast cos it’s entering an expressway and if they assume it’s one junction, they won’t be expecting the first car to stop.

OTOH, maybe that’s why I saw some accidents at the junction recently

How come Iswaran got time to watch F1 go holidays with OBS but all these road conditions don't go improve to make it easier for road users?
