WD40 works too but will leave it smelly.

get those wipes that won't tear, otherwise tissue is too easily tear.

If it is rubbery plastic product (those materials that are used to enhance grip), rub with baking soda and water and it will come off. But if the water goes in you get water damage to the electronic circuit. Make sure you dry it completely before inserting batteries and powering up.

If it is adhesive material like tape, or dried paper or craft glue, use zippo lighter fluid.
