Hi brothers/sisters, my 2007 PC recently died on me. It makes a loud beeping sound whenever I try to start the PC.

Lacking the necessary expertise, I am unable to diagnose the problem. Should I fix this PC or sell to karang guni? Other options appreciated.

A description of my hardware:
~Antec Truepower Trio Tp3-550W PSU
~Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66Ghz Processor with 4 Mb Cache/1333FSB
~Asus P5K Pro (Green) LGA 775 Motherboard
~Asus NX8800GT 512 Mb DDR 3 PCI-E card
~2 x Patriot 1 Gb 6400/800 DDR2 Ram DIMM
~Seagate 250Gb 7200 Rpm HDD Sata II 16 Mb
~Samsung SH-S203B 20X DVD Writer
~Netgear WG311TNA Wireless-G PCI Card 108 Mbps
~Cooler Master Centurion 5 Casing with Side Panel

If you sell to karang guni, you might get a few dollars for it.

Sell it on vr-zone and you will do better, though don't expect more than $50 to $60 for the lot.

Your best course of action will be to fix the system. It should be fun learning how to do so. Your current rig is severely limited by RAM. 1 GB is nowhere near enough. The page swapping will slow everything to a crawl.

Your motherboard can take up to 4 X 2GB of DDR2, which is around $10 per 2GB stick. 2 X 2GB for $20 should be sufficient.

But I wouldnt know which is working haha. So do I sell it as a whole??

As for fixing the PC, I'm pretty much helpless in that aspect. :/

like you have already said, it is indeed junk. and what most people do with junk is to throw it away.

If really want to save I'm sure can bring down to SLS... if no interest just leave at void deck for one of your neighbours to salvage. Haha.

You can sell as a whole if you wish, removing only the HDD. If you get another system, you can salvage the data from the HDD before destroying the HDD.

Actually, the beep will give you some idea as to the problem. For example, a long continuous beep means RAM problem.

here's the bios beep codes i found in your mobo's manual:
one short beep: vga detected, quick boot set to disabled,no keyboard detected
one continuous beep followed by 2 short beeps than a pause(repeated): no memory detected
one continuous beep followed by 3 short beeps: no VGA card detected
one continuous beep followed by 4 short beeps: hardware component failure
check to see which beep code you're getting, and check accordingly to see which parts are broken and need a fix.

here's what i think you can get if you sell these parts on HWZ/vr-zone marketplace/carousell/gumtree.(assuming they work)
Antec Truepower Trio Tp3-550W PSU-$20(but i wouldn't hold my breath)
~Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66Ghz Processor with 4 Mb Cache/1333FSB-$15
~Asus P5K Pro (Green) LGA 775 Motherboard-$30
~Asus NX8800GT 512 Mb DDR 3 PCI-E card-$15
~2 x Patriot 1 Gb 6400/800 DDR2 Ram DIMM-$5-10
~Seagate 250Gb 7200 Rpm HDD Sata II 16 Mb-keep it, you can still use it
~Samsung SH-S203B 20X DVD Writer-$10-15
~Netgear WG311TNA Wireless-G PCI Card 108 Mbps-$10?
~Cooler Master Centurion 5 Casing with Side Panel-$10-20(depending on condition, screws, any missing stuff, etc.)

If you don't game at high settings or do other intensive tasks, LGA775 is perfectly adequate.

In fact, I just downgraded my LGA775 Kodi box from Q9450 to E8400 to bring system power down to around 160W. It works well enough for me, so much so that I have a i7-3770 rig gathering dust in storage.

I still have my E6750 bare CPU with me. Refused to sell due to sentimental value in it cos can oc to 3.3ghz at stock voltage. Silicon lottery doesn't come that often.

Good old Intel Core 2 Duo times. :(

Core 2s are the last of the consumer CPUs with soldered IHS. This makes them both cool and hardy (more likely to survive high voltages).

Edit: The E8400 I just installed into my Kodi rig powered my main rig for many years. Eventually, I upgraded but like you, kept the CPU. :)

I am willing to take DDR2 RAM. I am still using core 2 duo with 2 empty ram slot, for Internet browsing.

Yup. Core 2 Duo was really an awesome time for Intel CPUs. I would consider them as the golden era of Intel. Quality soldered IHS and awesome overclocking potential and affordable too. Not to mention jaw dropping performance and very cool temps.

The good old days. :(:(

My Sandy Bridge will last me for another 5 years considering that now Intel want to produce LESS powderful CPUs instead.
