What to do with your Huawei

Telco is no more trading in Huawei phone.
Just keep and use till end life.

I am looking for Huawei Mate 20 Pro lah. I not the type want to take advantage of ppl lowball $50 or $100. I am prepared to pay reasonable price but seller oso must be fair to me because I oso worry HW no spare parts to support me warranty for 2 years. So seller must sell cheaper. Dun think sell 20 % cheaper than retail price can sell...I won't buy over the risk for so high price. HW now no second hand market resale value oredi. Seller must understand this.

But some ppl got money. They say they rather throw down the dustbin than sell cheap. Up to them lor.

Dun believe the BS about malware lah. It's marketing gimmick lah. As long as dun surf porn with phone, dun anyhow open links, and use for proper things u are OK lah!

If you want to do risky thing, go get a cheap tablet maybe $100 + and watch all the porn you want lah! If spoil jiu sua lor. But if you use a $1000+ phone for that, then you deserve it lor.

I bought a Lenovo tablet from Red Bean from an IT Show years ago and it had pop up ads everytime I wake the tablet up from sleep mode and closing of apps.

If you kena malware from dodgy sites you probably deserve it, but if you pay for a product that comes with one, I really cannot justify not blaming the manufacturer.

I use Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet lah bro! No malware, no ads, no pop up lah bro! One year oredi still battery strong, screen good, speaker loud oso leh. I am very happy with my Samsung lah bro! I want to write to Samsung CEO and thank him lah!

Suspect they'll still accept if they can get at low enough price. After all it's about making money. Huawei phones still have value. Question at what price point. Seller want high buyer want low.

Huawei say they have parts to last 2 years, so your excuse is negligible .
By then the phone is obsolete, can throw away liao.

No wonder I got pop up ads with my new Xiaomi phones a few years ago. I thought it was infected with virus and stopped using.

Their defense was having this function allows you all to buy phones at a cheaper price. And not sure if it is true, but there is a setting function that will "lessen" (note: not disable) ads.

Actually you still can use. just install anti-virus to disable that app, can already. I did this with my Lenovo tablet.

I think you mis-understood the statements. Android is sort of "freeware" like linux, available to all. Trump CANNOT ban Huawei for using Android. So future Huawei can still use the pure Android but without the Google Bloatware. Mainland devices are all have the Google Bloatware removed, still functioned as per normal. Their youku, QQ Video, Bilibili are much better then youtube anyway.Many people in SG also have used mainland devices here without any issue.

I know the apps will continue to have updates from google playstore. but w/o the os update, there might be security issues that exploits outdated os. in other words, Huawei users may be targeted by malware because we're still stuck with older versions and no security patches.

The updates are less useful than you think. There are many updates which are not relevant to daily usage. Although now we have Android 9, you will be suprised that many still using Android 6.0/7.0 without any issues.

Many people has a impression of freeware is free. Is never happen this way.
Some of the application is mainly use in China as you mention. But mobile world is more than that. eg, mobile banking. Unless all these developer makes their apk available. You have no choice but have to get it from certified site.

Also, you can run Android, but you are not able to get security patch.

Well, it depend on how you defined relevant. or sometime important. If I buy a 2-300 hundred phone. I would not care about it too much. But not for a thousand over $ phone.
