Feeling so frustrated and confused. Anyone can advise? Or what would YOU do if u were in my shoe?

Not progressing as smoothly as my peers at my work place. Their promotion seems to be faster than me despite us doing the same kind of work. I admit i do not know how to showcase myself as compared to them.

Only positive thing is that my pay is much higher than my peers due to my qualifications.

Entertained thoughts of leaving many a times but the good pay and good work life balance is preventing me from doing so. I don't mind leaving to do more work with a similar pay but i doubt i will be offered an equivalent pay becoz i have been w this organisation for 20 years already!! I have another 20 years to go and if i stay here, i can retire without any worries, even living a really good retirement lifestyle. Let's just say if some place offers me a similar pay, i will immediately jump ship.

Should i leave, i can still retire adequately but not with that kinda lifestyle i desire. I will probably be at least 75% poorer than i would be if i did not leave, unless i get a similar or higher pay.

Very confused. What would u do if u were me? Suck it up and stay and go through the motions or leave to try other jobs/work place and be happier? I am not exactly unhappy here, just upset that i do not get promoted as my peers.

And please do not mention about this covid-19 thingy. Let's just assume in normal circumstances, what would u do?

I am actually a young man in my late 20s, I never work as long as you did but I made a choice to move on to being a self-employed. Why I did that?

It’s kind of similar to what you are experiencing, I couldn’t feel any progress in my work life and only seeing others progressing faster.

So I ask myself what’s happening, and the answers are that I didn’t have any passion in my career and I am ambitious young man. Which is why I decided to be a self-employed, it makes me happier even though there are challenges.

My suggestion do things that makes you happy. If you want to chat with me further you can WhatsApp me at +6583227767 since I truly like to help others.

Self employed meaning ppt agent or insurance?

Actually, you already know that your weakness is not knowing how to showcase your work, why don’t you work on it? Sometimes, you need to step out of your comfort zone and do what you need to do to get the promotion.

Ultimately, I feel that if you're truly unhappy with where you stand, make the move, if not suffer from the decision you have chosen.

realistically, how much of a pay cut do you expect to take if you jump out ?

what are your financial and family situations ?
