What’s the difference between Hokkien and Teochew?

Anyone knows the difference between Hokkien and teochew sayings?

I always get confused between the 2, they seem so similar and interchangeable.

i’d say its a same dialect with different slang.. teochew is more melodic n hokkien rough n crude.

Teochew has more words their syllables is higher toned, therefore in general sounds nicer than hokkien

Me too, as a Hokkien who once worked as a teller in old jurong west I know best. Those old Teochew customers originated from certain counties really catch no ball. Lagi worse no Teochew colliqs in our branch some more.

Our branch made up of hokkien, cantonese & hakka.

Because there’s variations in tonality. Teochews and understand and speak Hokkien, but Hokkien can’t understand and speak Teochew
