Hi guys I am going to Tokyo in about 2 weeks.
Where do you usually change JPY?
I am thinking whether Arcade or Chinatown has better rate?
Or is there better place to change?

Either Arcade (if I have the time to go down during lunch) or Fountain money changer at Marina Sq (next to my office).

just change at Jurong Point, the money exchange near the bus interchange - go during weekends or if weekday, before evening because everytime long queues.,

the rates there always better than other money exchange around

If travelling distance not an issue, Arcade.

There should have around 20 money changers and rate is competitively as compared to neighborhood ones.

Neighborhood usually only comparable in Rm cos got demand and turnover fast.
Other currency might not be as good as rates fluctuate fast.

How are the rates at the old fountain money changer location? Its by a different company now but still quite busy.

I was talking about the original fountain money changer, not the one at its old location. If you are asking about the latter, I'm not sure about their rates coz in the past (after the original fountain money changer moved), most of the time I checked their rates were not as good. So over time I didn't bother to check their rates anymore.

I'm not exactly sure why still lots of people queueing... But I do know there are some who still didn't know the original fountain money changer had moved.

But then suntec has more human traffic than marina sq, so there are some people who can't be bothered to walk to marina sq, so they just change at suntec I guess.

Usually arcade as more choices. Doesnt matter unless you are changing for a big group. Looks like the jpy may weaken more. Can wait a bit if not in a hurry.

Last time when I worked in chennai biz park I just exchanged jpy and most other fcys at bedok town money changers. the slightly higher rate doesn't justify purposely making trip all the way to raffles just to change money.

But now working in raffles liao so do all my fcy exchanges in arcade.

Usually change in arcade as I worked there. Easy to compare rates since they are all in the same row. Otherwise Lucky Plaza is good as well. A number of money changers operate till 9pm so it's good if you need it off working hours. Rates were pretty good but you need to walk around a fair bit to compare prices.
