Ok ah let’s break it down again I’m not the best at this,
FPS = GPU’s producing framerate
Monitor’s refresh rate(Hz)= your monitor’s frame refreshes how many times per sec.
Totally two different things
You monitor is a 1440p 60hz IPS screen. So no matter how much fps your gpu produces your monitor would cap it at 60 fps due to it being a 60hz screen
Also if your future gpu can push higher FPS like over a 100fps, it’s still gonna be 60fps capped due to your monitor’s 60hz limit.
You might also experience screen tearing because both your fps and refresh rate are not in sync, to counter this,
-Either turn V sync on in game to match yur fps together with your monitor’s refresh rate,
-get a higher refresh rate monitor like a 100hz or 120hz for 34inch, which would mitigate the tearing massively.
Or get a Gsync monitor or freesync monitor usually with high refresh rate that keeps everything synchronised to prevent tearing and stuttering.
Now back to our GPUs, your can get the 2070 no problem for 1440p gaming, some might argue to get the 1080Ti instead but since their price is quite close and although 1080Ti is a stronger card, it’s however, an older card. But if you are having a 1080Ti now, the direct upgrade would be a 2080Ti which is 2k+ if you don’t mind.
but due to your monitor’s refresh rate, you might not be getting the full experience. But non or less go ahead and buy it first and see how it goes. If you have a chance do find somebody with predator X34 monitor, it’s a 1440p 100hz ips monitor which is a direct upgrade to your current monitor.
Play some games on it and see how it compares in terms of screen refreshing rate to your current monitor.
