Why do people clap and cheer in the cinema?

I watched jurassic world movie and got one scene so many idiots clapped and cheered. Then once the movie over got people clap and standing ovation for what is essentially a mediocre movie.

So whats the point of clapping and cheering? do for who?

Wait until you see those who bow at the screen.. One time even got salute..

every 5 minutes they will cheer loudly whenever black widow do anything heroic

after 1 hour of dahan I shout at them to diam

then they diam but keep giving me sideway evil eye

like they entitled to disturb other people watching movie

is it normal nowdays
