Because their government is stupid.

They cap the sale price of chicken, but the cost of rearing the chicken has gone up.

So for every chicken the farm sells, they make a loss. So how does stopping export help with this? All the farms will just close shop because they lose money each time they sell a chicken!

Really world class idiots

this is how i see, may not be correct.
They shortage of chickens.
cos of rising cost of materials to raise chicken.
cos of rising cost of employing workers to raise the chicken.
and malaysia government trying to press the price of chicken down so malaysians can afford to buy.
thus, chicken owners cant sustain the cost and shut down the business.

This is what i think .

They capped the price because they were thinking of the poorer people. They don't care about the farmers making a loss per chicken.

Can't say it's a bad initiative, but they really didn't think through the process. No businessman wants to make losses.

They do not have a shortage of chicken.
Is the price increase they cannot tahan.
So their logic is... by increasing supply, price shd come down.

But the supply chain.. their costs are indeed higher.. will sell at a loss? Freezing the chicken maybe a a more viable option.

because their farms were producing for export, and reducing the supply for local consumption. so the govt wants to force the available supply to locals instead.

Their politician never ask them jiak frozEn, processed and nuggets?

and why was that? because the local prices were artificially capped by the govt. in long run, this will result in the farms being bankrupt...

If I MY leaders, I will not ban live or fresh chicken export but levy a manageable or reasonable export tax so that part of levy $$$ can be used to support own citizen or expand chicken farms to increase quality and quantity.

Earn $$ and increase chicken production and quality for country, better solution but then importer country will pay higher cost which is inevitable.
