The URL you shared appears to be for a 4G router, despite what the picture might suggest as 5G. Looking at the specifications, it only shows 4G network bands and doesn't specify the modem speed. Given the price point, this is likely a basic 4G router.

For reference:

  • Standard 5G routers (designed for 24/7 operation with power supply) typically range from $250-500, depending on brand and model
  • 4G routers, being older technology mainly used for kiosks, range from $50-250 for high-speed models
If you don't need 24/7 operation, you might want to consider the Prolink portable 5G router, which is available for around $160-190.

Hope this helps with your decision-making.

wow so expensive.

Got less than $100?
Want 5G router, current market does not have any at such price range.
Minimally $200/$300+ onwards.

There's DLink, TP-Link, Linksys that has 5G routers but they don't come cheap.
Otherwise, will just be 4G mobile routers.

Unless you are looking for those travel mobile routers, which are different.

well actually if you have decent phone. you can get better speed. you only have limitation on wireless strength and number of user.

Which overall still possibly performs worse than a dedicated mobile router isn't it considering all the necessary aspects.
Unless one gets a much higher end mobile phone which will bring the cost up, likely more than a mobile router.
The only advantage is the portability of a mobile router vs mobile phone.

To my knowledge, almost all well build and reliable 5G routers are expensive due to the modem (Eg. Quectel card) price which remains high. Actually, some decent 4G routers may be good enough. Brands like Asus, Tektonica, MikroTik and GL.iNet had a few good offerings which does not come cheap too.

Another spectrum are custom/purpose build (or DIY) 4G/5G routers which uses a bare router mainboard equiped with lots of expansion slots (Eg. multi-SIM, mPCI, M.2, etc) house in weatherproof enclosure connected to high gain indoor/outdoor APs and antennae for industrial iOTs applications or mobile communication vehicles or RVs.

Bro, your suggestion is extreme/enthusiast level costing one.
Normal consumers/users getting normal 4G/5G routers already kpkb about cost liao. :s13:

To obtain such brands also difficult liao too, not widely available IIRC. Don't even see the ever familiar ASUS bringing in their 4G mobile routers, what more about Tektonica, MikroTik & GL.iNet.
And seems like ASUS stopped producing mobile routers? Never seen any ASUS - 5G routers since their last 4G-AX56 too.
Though GL.iNet has online presence in Shopee/Lazada IIRC.

From what I read, many brands of 5G SIM routers from Taobao are only for mainland China use and many are pretty lousy based on the reviews in Douyin 抖音 (TikTok counterpart in China).

Top three recognized brands for 5G SIM Router in Mainland China:
Huawei (华为), ZTE (中兴) and FibreHome (烽火), all three are recognized brands in the telecom industry.

No idea of how good or how bad the "Asia or International" version SIM Routers from Taobao are.

I do not think it is worth the risk to buy this one.

HK/Macau version: RMB 788
Asia version: RMB 869
International version: RMB 1069.

I actually think this one may not even work in Singapore using Singapore SIM card, rather it may work in Singapore with China SIM card. The target customer seems to be for mainland Chinese going abroad.

I have seen quite many such 5G SIM Card routers in Taobao, usually cheaper though, many of them:
1) Are fake 5G
2) Are not working at all outside of China, even when they claim to be Asia or International version.

Tks for highlighting the risk, appreciated.

yes had to think twice before parting the money.

claming refund from TB is not that straightforward and easy.

Better buy locally, most of them are for the Chinese market even when stating supports international.
There's importers etc. that provide decently priced 5G routers especially during sales.
