hi there,
gov will not takeover existing pte commercial land, to tear them down, only to rebuild them as hotels.
basically, the gov has some plan for the region, defined as lorong 4 to lorong 22, on the same side of the road.
but u need to be inside the planning division of ura to know what's going on.
however, let's do simple maths.
we should approach 10m in population by throwing out 4m+ passports to more prc animals.
when that happens, our city would expand in both population and the CBD area would need to expand too.
geylang is like hmm, at worst, 10 mins drive to town, suntec?
so ya, it being a red-light district, was when sg was a much smaller place.
in my view, there will be change, but nothing will happen, as I said, easily for the next 15 years.
so if u invest in that area... hmm, just be clear that u aren't brainwashed by the real estate agents, as they would paint to u as if change is just right about when trump is elected.
