For those facing gaming issues: Make sure your graphic drivers are installed and updated.

Don't let others or some random website dictate your preferences, try Windows 8 before you decide if it's okay or not.

To me, Windows 8 is as good on the desktop as on a touchscreen.

+1, windows 8 is better than w7 IMO, particularly faster with better security. I actually like the new interface.

Try it before you decide, don't base it solely on what others have to say.

It is depends on your hardware like Processor and RAM. If your processor is not too fast - like core2 Duo/ Core i 3 etc, then use windows 7, but if your processor is core i3 or core i 5, use windows 8 for gaming. :s22:

Only if your hardware got touchscreen.

Rubbish. I can use it perfectly fine with just the keyboard and mouse, and so can many others here without a touchscreen.

Win8 is best used for touch, although u can get by without touch. Theres desktop mode if one prefers non touch.

Do note that Windows Media Center is bundled free with Windows 7.

Microsoft took it out in Windows 8, and you need to pay extra upgrade to Windows 8 Pro Pack.

You can find a list of features that are removed from Windows 8, which used to exist in previous version of Windows. See if you need them or not.
