Hi, I got a hand down MAC but want to ask if I can do the following.

There is a parallels desktop with windows 8.1 inside. But the subscription is going to end soon. I read can use bootcamp. If I start bootcamp and install windows 8.1 (same serial code as the one installed inside my parallels) will there be any issue or problems?

So means I will have parallels with win8.1 and also bootcamp with win8.1 both on MAC. Will it take up 2x space since I have 2 copies of windows on my MAC?

Bootcamp will slice(partition) a portion of your disk space for windows(bootcamp) which you can allocate yourself. while parallels is only using your macOS disk space.

As for serial key, I'm not too sure maybe it may work since same machine.

I use parallel dekstop til few months ago, From my experience when you activated the windows license on vm, it stays in VM non-transferable. somehow windows recognized that as new machine everytime you install the vm.... may it converted from bootcamp or you created the windows vm using parallel...

If you activated your serial on bootcamp the next time you reinstall somehow it still activated (skipping serial and connectingg to internet after installation)

Anyways using bootcamp in parallel is not so smart, it doesn't grow automatically and some options is greyed out. (I think coherence somehow not working?? I cant remember)

As for original question about sharing of space if parallel vm is imported from bootcamp it shares the same installation directory + some installation files stays on your mac.

Coherence is working for me.

All functions is working fine . U need to close the vm/parallel before making changes . Some functions required you to close the program before making changes .

Regarding the cd key. What I know is that Microsoft will deactivate the first one and activate it in the second one .

I believed vm should work the same way when you connect to internet in your new bootcamp.

I always reinstall my bootcamp and use back same cd key also.
