With Trump, should Taiwan just get Nuclear arms?

Now Trump want Taiwan to pay up.

Is it cheaper to just go develop Nuclear weapons to deter China once and for all?

After all more backward country like Pakistan and India also can develop Nukes.

Without US, there is no chance for Taiwan in conventional battle anyway
