If you don't mind 2nd hand or previous gen, that will save you loads. Brand new business-grade laptops are overpriced at retail/list price.

There should be plenty of units floating around carousell with 1-2+ years of warranty remaining.

This. But you will need to bear in mind whether or not it will last for the time of your usage life cycle. How long are you intending to stretch it's use?


At the very least, your computer needs to support UEFI if you are going to stretch beyond 2020. We don't know what games Intel will play when the time comes. (At least I don't know how old a computer you will be looking).

Most of the $1-$1.5k pre-owned laptops with existing warranty are pretty much 6th to 8th gen Intel chips. Warranty wise, always good to have original invoice/receipt and check warranty status online before buying. Afaik, for Latitudes one could simply call Dell and extend the warranty to 5 years and add ADP if desired.
