Worst / pointless purchase for babies

Would like to hear from you guys what purchased you made for your kids and eventually you realised that you do not need them at all or became redundant ?

Babies don't need pillows to sleep. A folded diaper cloth works just as well.

I buy 2nd hand from carousel and then sell it off for slightly less on carousel. Consider like leasing for 2 years, 1 yr 10-20 dollars only.

first child, so u get all the trappings of "fuss over 1st child".

but the purchase is not what hurts (it was a gift, so i am not complaining), but what hurts was HOW UNDERUTILIZED it had been.

i can count the number of times I had used it as well - Precisely 1.5 times.

the .5 was only cos LO sat in it for a while during the outing, then ended up wanted me to carry. And afterward, straightaway upgrade to self-walk.

Its just the under-utilization that's the sian thing since I don't like to underutilize things. Never mind if its ex as long as I can squeeze out every use case out of it during its service life time.

It varies from child to child. My older kids never sat in stroller for long before getting fussy. My youngest would be happy seating in it and falling asleep.

I never like taking the stroller out to malls. Much prefer using carriers so that we can be hands free.

Baby carrier lagi worse, somemore weather was hot and me and my spouse runs hot. So end up the baby carrier became woefully UNDERUTILIZED again.

In fact, its much faster and LO's much much happier with the conventional way of carrying since it is the standard position adopted for sleeping/snuggling.

Each baby's mileage varies. There is absolutely NO NEED to buy any silly pram or spend a few hundred getting a baby carrier whatever because if one's spouse is constantly at your side, adding prams or baby carriers are just a waste of money. And if baby doesn't like to be carried the conventional way, shops are ALWAYS there and one can always go and buy a pram and deploy it within 2 to 3hrs (Singapore how big only).

One more i add imo are toys.

most of our toys are gifts, toddler don't really play alot with them.

Books and clean cardboards have better mileage

Interesting inputs. Hope to hear more as it will be very useful for first time parents. I think the kanchiongness will end up buying loads more than what is needed and end up wasting money

Milk bottles...

What I researched is good and bought... Then bought steriliser free gift milk bottles, sis bought milk pump as gift for me free gift milk bottles... Mother don't like the milk bottles and ask to buy another brand (she helped to take care too, but baby don't like the brand she like... )... Ended up many many milk bottles... As baby grew... Need to change milk bottles to bigger size...

i am a full time daddy this is what i learn.

1. baby clothes: max buy 10 top 10 pant not more then that because baby grow fast!
same thing when they grow toddler wear them until they worn out and sometime u can see they out grown the clothes after 6 months.


2. buy baby havest sack it is lieka bag u can put your baby infront of u your two hand is free not tiring this is a good investment trust me.

3. baby bottle just buy 3 after use wash them straight away.

4. 1st diaper do not buy afew packet buy a small packet and see if the baby skin can accept the diaper if not then u have to buy a new brand.

5.baby towel u need only 3

6. baby toys u need only afew
