Would you buy a mid highend display set or a lowend brand new set?

Saw some price even below lowend models for 55inch

Wondering if display set is worth the money

Answer is no... I will not buy a display set. Cos the panel has limited lifespan... and the tv is on for at least 6-8 hours a day. If the display set is there for like 3 months, you can count how many hours the tv is on non-stop. Not very good lar... heat is an enemy of electronics, so prefer not to buy display set. Rather settle for a lower end model.

In reality, a lot of features you won't use lar... so go for the largest screen possible with the minimum extras. Guarantee you won't use smart tv function cos it's painfully slow. So ignore the operating system, not worth your time. Don't need 4K also cos got no material now... plus your HD free to air is going to look even more crap stretched out. Also don't need 3D unless you're a particular fan of it. Different movies do 3D differently, some are good most are bad. Basically, just need a good panel, wide viewing angles, good colour, good black depth, and preferably as non-reflective a surface as possible.

The money you save, get a good tv mount on the wall that allows you to pull the tv out to plug in cables or plug out, tilt the tv forwards or backwards to avoid reflections from ceiling lights.

Then after you buy, don't look anymore... just enjoy your tv...

Note: Bigger is better... try for 65 to 70 inches... really shiok! I have the Sony 70W850B... 70 inches of full HD shiokness...

I would only do so if the display set is less than 3-4 days old - i.e. Tradeshow piece and they can show that it's only been used for this short period. Finally the discount must be substantial.

ive ask similar qns b4... display set that put on road show for few adays to ` week, after they will wan to deliver liao no need to shift back.

I tink its good deal, but better for higher priced TV, as the discount given is much more. Go for it if the original TV is exp. But then again who knows few months down the road the new set price will be set as what u bought as display.

Hi,

Please share on how you find picture quality of the pictures on 70" of FHD and 70" of UHD (4K), if based on HD playback format? How is the text quality?

I am planning to get a display, as my CRT TV is dying. I am thinking of getting on the basic TV of around 50", seems not much of a choice. Please suggest.

Regards.

I bought my 48" Samsung low-end non-Smart LED TV from Mustafa at good price last year. You can try your luck there. Sadly to say lower end series are associated with lousier panel image quality (though mine was still decent with Samsung's own S-PVA). Higher quality panel ones will usually comes with Smart TV and all the jingles on higher end series. Some also claimed that lower end series uses poorer PCB components so lifespan will also be shorter,. Hope my set can last long. :)

But having seen one 70" Full HD Sharp TV set previously, i got to say 4K is really much better...
