you are better off buy a Ryzen
Ryzen is worth for a budget build / non-commercial setup but i'd prefernot to choose it if my main bread and butter depends on it, unless i have no choice.
Basically
in terms of rendering architecture, optimisations will favour intel instead of AMD
So even if an AMD in benchmarks is faster than an intel, the optimisation within the majority of the big name software applications end up favouring intel CPUs.
In the video-editing world, stability matters more than pure horsepower

So while we have Cinebench / handbrake scores stating Ryzen is on par / outperforms Coffee Lake, the minor quirks while each software manufacturer works to optimise their platform to suit Ryzen can take some time, if at all.
Those of us who remember the days when we had to hunt for artifacting in projects will swear their hands off AMD chips. Try contacting the software manufacturer for enquiries, and no prizes for guessing where the finger will point the blame. It is actually a big bonus if the reps will answer any queries once they hear one is using An AMD system.
So i would say a Ryzen based system may be value for money if you are using it more for a non-commercial purpose. but if you are using it for commercial purposes, Coffee Lake will be a safer bet.
