Hi all,
I am going to share my experience of disappointment with xperia Z. I usually use my phones carefully and since no kids so most of my sets remain in mint condition till I retire or sell them.
One hot day I was waiting for a cab and I got a cab where temperature was a bit too cold inside. I just hopped on while my phone was in my jeans front pocket. After a reached my friend's place took out my phone and found that the back glass is cracked.
Yes, no drop nothing else. I have a suspicion that with the temperature shock and a bit of pressure in my jeans pocket this happened.
I am not sure if Sony is going to repair it for free. Just checking if other people encounter this problem.
I found this forum where lots of other people encountered similar issue where the black glass is cracked with no reason.

tight jeans?

while your xz is inside your pocket...the temperature cannot do much on your xz...it shd be under your body temp.

i suspect more like too much force that bend your unit and causing your back screen to break....

I think somehow many people blame Xperia Z quality when it goes all wrong.
My Xperia Z was in sunny Singapore weeks ago and here i am in Europe where is -3 degree celcius.

Strangely my Xperia Z didn't crack when there's a difference when there's a drop of 37 degree celcius, if that is not cold enough to make your nipple stands...

Haha... Nice one bro.
I also did not have a crack Rear or front when I was in Japan a few weeks back. Still using my Phone at 8degree and half way up mount Fuji when it storm there(my hand was experience numbness FyI) No cracks but a few apps fail to launch like my shortcut to camera was not functioning. That is all I experienced. Imo Xperia z is mean for cold country as I dun get a heated up xperia z in jap at all but everyday when I'm back in Sg. Haix!!!

U guys may be right that its the pressure of my jeans how about the thread that I shared?
So many people already experienced similar issue. Something seriously wrong with the design.
Moreover I really feel that this set highly over rated (u may say that its after I got broken back lolz) but really I had Xperia s and headphone quality was much better. Screen contrast was also better. Which is a lot cheaper than this

if you ask me, i swear my life over Xperia Z... in term of performance and software optimisation. Headphone i wont comment as i hardly use it but screen contrast, i swear by the Z. Yes, i had 3 Xperia S for my entire family.

I agree with you that the screen of Xperia Z is so much superior compared to Xperia S as I am using Xperia S for up to a year before I change to Xperia V for about 2 months then finally change to Xperia Z.

Glass back cracking is inevitable. Only thing is whether if you are the lucky one. iPhone had it, N4 had it, now you can add XZ to the hall of honour :s13:

I don't mind if glass breaks by my miss handling of the product, but if it breaks during a careful usual use then I question the quality of such an expensive product

2nd case here liao?

i suspect the fone cannot take torsion stress and the stress can easily crack the glass cos the fone structure is not strong enuff / flexible compare to metal frame.
think its made of some carbon fiber

try taking your XZ at both corner at its' length
den twist the ends in opp direction.

QC passed for mine.
I put my XZ and iPhone in my jeans back pocket all the time, yes both phones in same pocket. Both phones screen protector got lots of scratches and some melt marks or something like that. I sit with the phones in my pocket too, so far no cracking issue. Tested up to 80kg body mass, anything more try at own risk ;)

ok this trend is worrying.

inside bag also can crack?

how come phone hot liao, place inside a bag, it can proceed to disintegrate by itself?

which part crack? the front screen and panel too?

or just the rear screen?

$598?

might as well use it as a paper weight then

Someone should wash it,put in fridge then take out for walk noon time, then put back in freezer then wash with hot water....
That should do for quality check. :D

Will putting on a back case help?

So far my XZ is fine. It gets really hot sometimes to the point that it can cause discomfort inside my front pockets.
