Road trips I particularly enjoyed:
1. Loire Valley from Paris -
chateau, wine, dine, cheese, artisan/specialty shops enroute
2. Normandy coast to St Malo -
Overlord beaches, crossing the Cherbourg Peninsula to St Malo and Mont St Michel
3. Desaru to Kuantan
Desaru-Mersing-Rompin-Pekan-Kuantan
4. KL to Penang by coastal road
Kuala Selangor-Sekinchan-Lumut-Taiping-Butterworth-Georgetown

I just came back from a 7 days road trip in Okinawa. Naha > Nanjo > Chatan > Yomitan > Onna > Nago > Motobu. Overall ok, not too many scenery but the food and the crystal clear water makes it all worth it.
