Myrepublic speed test page :

Speedtest.net (starhub mobile server)

Downloading with rpnet :

Tiong bahru area, tested at my friend's place using n56u. What a difference between the actual speedtest and MR's speedtest page. Makes me wonder if it's rigged.:s13:

Judging from IDM, the MR speedtest page is definitely out to mislead innocent users..

Can you share what file you download? See if i can replicate on my end?

you seriously have to even consider that? how many people are complaining already, you think is my router causing it?

too lazy to do a redundant job, plug into ONT sure reflect same speed. what's the point, the thing is what can you resolve? are you representative of MR or what? We're all pretty pissed off here already so please mind your words and phrasing.

Well, it up to you if you want to test. I'm trying to help you to isolate the issues and finding solution for you. And yes, there are cases that router are the cause due to some configuration.

If you think it not the router then it not. Cheers.

If u dun wan to try solve the problem and just push everything to MR, den yeah there is no need to do that though.

At least he is trying to help minimise the chances of components being faulty or so. If direct connect to ONT gives u same results, then its MR fault le. If it gives u almost full speed, then something wrong with your router.

We will never know since u dun wan to do it.

Yup, i am not obligated to help him anyway. Alot of issues are mis-configuration on router end sometime through updating of firmware, a reconfiguration of settings is recommended. One of my customer also complain to me that speed got problem. Went thru the troubleshooting and isolate router is the cause, guided him to do a factory reset and reconfigure, now everything good.

Lol, let him continue pushing the blame to MR bah... i also do that whenever i feel there is something wrong with my network.

please the 2 of you, how can the router just suddenly gone bonkers? If I'm the only facing the problem, I boh wei gong, but everyone going through the same thing, you ask me to check my ONT? something wrong with you guys?

btw great job defending Myrepublic, it's because of you that's why they can keep quiet for so long. Well played guys!

If my router is the one giving me problem, then please you 2 experts, please explain how I got this via mr speedtest page?

You can't download those files without a valid a file host account.. anyway, as you can see that the speedtest results between MR's and the actual page is below par.. how do you explain that.. you can claim it's router problem if MR's speedtest result is more or less identical..

Yeah, true facts. i do too last time. :s13::s13::s13:

well i don blame him, i understand if the router is brand new and this is his 1st time using the router and its giving him problem and he should isolate all hardware to see which is the problem.. but i'm sure he has been using the router for some time and its working fine or maybe this is not the first time the internet connection been giving him problem and he has already rule out that the router is fine thus the finger pointing at MR.

but hey, maybe your right. its must be the router or ont or even the fiber cable cause that what MR standard reply to me.:s22:

how can this be wrong? If it's my problem, I won't be so adamant about it writing here in this forum, will I? Jokes.

From what I see, problems surface, users complain and MR wants to ignore their grievances. Time passes, users with issues vent all their frustrations to friends, colleagues, relatives, social media etc.

By the time 2 years is up, MR's rep will completely go down the drain.

Well, a lot of factor come into play on what cause the issues, i did mention he got a good router there, Netgear Nighthawk, which shouldn't cause the bottleneck.

Neither do I know the history of what troubleshooting he have done as he didn't mention at all nor i run through every single post. I'm helping him in a capacity as a fellow forumer. As much as unhappy he is on the current issues, since someone bother to reply to his post and give some help, please do not take the frustrations out on the others as if someone own him or her a solution.

MyRepublic Authorized Partner / Senior Sales Team Manager

we are paying customers, MR DO OWN US a solution.. and as someone who is a authorized partner or sale team manager, it may not be your department nor your expertise but to some degree you will need to help us.

looking at myrepublic facebook and hwz, there are so many complain of slow speed after 9pm onwards from different individual. why is it always around this timing most of the user start to post their complain of network slow/unstable? it highly unlikely that most individual router start to give problem around same timing. With so many complain, many are still waiting for a response from myrepublic.

anyone experience really bad and sluggish connection today? west side.. i had to power off my ont and router about 4 times...

Allow me to share what happened yesterday. I stayed in CCK. About just after 4pm, was unable to connect to the Internet.

Tried powering off and on to ONT/Asus router, still no use. Even when connected, few sites loaded were very slow. In the end, gave up and called MR support.

First call was put on hold and I hung up. Tried again later and was answered within a minute by a lady (don't sound like local). Anyway, she guided me through some processes which I have done that already. I asked her whether other users in the west have similar problem and was told that there is none.

When I told her about the slow websites, she then guided me to change the DNS manually through the router admin page:

DNS Server1 103.11.48.190
DNS Server2 103.11.48.126

After applying the changes, Internet connection was back to normal.

Am suspecting the issue is due to OLT oversubscribed on MR's end. At the end of the day, they can offer u 1gbps bill plan, but should all 24 of you on the same rack utilize the bandwidth together at peak hour, this is the likely results you get.

Besides, they are likely only using 2.5gbps capped GPON. Doubt they'll even go to XGPON for consumers :s22:

So yes. They over-marketed their product in a way.
