MSI recently released a limited edition GTX 970 Gaming4G model.
As most of the info can already be found online,
this thread is to share some firsthand experience.

MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G

What is so different about this card?
This is the 2nd time MSI released a GE model.
First being the GTX465 TwinFrozr Golden Edition with 1k units globally.
As per how the TwinFrozr cooler has evolved over the years,
you can learn more about it here :
MSI TwinFrozr Club-SG HWZ Quiz : Prizes to be won! - www.hardwarezone.com.sg

The Golden Edition also spots all the features of the latest TF5 cooler(less the independent fan control from the 980TF5) and a full copper hsf(with anti-oxidation coating)
Also due to TF5 newer design, it is not as heavy as the 1st GTX465 GE model even though its a bigger card.
You can probably say this is size/performance/cooling efficiency at its best for TF5.

It also comes with a good looking backplate with the MSI gaming dragon logo in gold.
And lastly, its a one off limited production.

More pictures of the card :

Did a quick test on its performance.
Just simple tests.

The card comes in @
1140MHz on the core but rated @ 1165MHz which needs to be achieved using MSI Gaming App but more on in a while.
1753MHz on the memory.(7012MHz GDDR5)

Cooling on Furmark Extreme burn mode :

Conducted in an open benched test.
25degees ambient w/o additional cooling.
Those who been to my office, know my room is kinda warm.

Some explanation on how to get that 1165MHz clock.
You will need to install and run MSI Gaming APP software.
Once installed, enable it and click on OC mode.
It will prompt you to restart once.
After that upon the next boot up, you just need to enable and minimise it to desktop will do.

Some other features available are the colour display adjustment.
You can fiddle around with it.
You probably won not be needing to use it anyways.
Another way, you can manual set you card's Core/fan speed algorithm using MSI AfterBurner :
www.hardwarezone.com.sg - View Single Post - Twin Frozr Club

Another interesting feature is the LED Visualizer from Nvidia's
GeForce Experience s/w.

GTX 700/900 models which come with the build in LED blink blink on their cards or even SLI bridges are able to use this.
You can basically set the LED to react to speeds/temps/sound/random blink settings etc.
Kinda cool for guys who mod their cases or like the blink effect.
Apart from that. GFE also has gamestream, shadowplay which you can utilize.
ShadowPlay is cool though.
You can record up to 4K res free w/o paying for additional s/w and stream them.
If you need to cast games youself in it, you can always combine it with Xplit.
(Google it online, it comes with a quick guide too)

Back to the GTX 970 Golden Edition.

OC performance?

Keeping power limit @ default 100%.
Got back some very nice numbers.

1350MHz in the core.

Maxing pwr limit to 110 didnt yield much more though :
Probably PerfCap limit...

Well, there you have it :

MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G Golden Edition

Nice card, nice temps, nice cooling, nice numbers. :)

MSI's MSRP @ $639

(*Apologies for any typos. I did not have time to proofread it.)
