Exclamation TV repair discussion thread II [consolidated]

This thread is to discuss option for repair of TVs. But the frank truth is that new sets are more difficult to repair and expensive to do so. The traditional repair shops in HDB flats do not have the parts or expertise unless it is a fuse issue or something simple.

So decide if the repairs make sense and whether a new set is a better bet.

Typically a decent TV can last 5 fives or so, but getting an extended warranty gives you peace of mind.

Remember a big TV is hard to carry in, and there is a risk of the rumoured "programmed death".

What issues is this? TV less than 1 year old.

I am sure no issue with the DVB-T2 antenna as I switched to HDMI also the same.

Any advise?

Less than 1yr old, means still got warranty right? Have you get Samsung to come down and check yet?

Yup, still in warranty. Didn't expect so fast the TV has problem already.

Just gave them a call this morning, CSO take down the details and will get technical team to call me to fix a date... Now waiting for their call. Haizz

Ever since the last LG TV, more expensive model, I bought last time round that spoilt 40 days after the 3yrs warranty expired, I lose faith in the so-called branded TVs liao.

Then I bought :

1. SkyWorth 42" LED IPS hard panel TV for about $428 (Mar 2015)
2. Xiaomi Mi TV 2 55" 4K IPS TV for about $1.4K+ (Aug 2015)

If this 2 TV were to last >3yrs, I will no longer pay more for the so-called branded liao.

Is your TV happen to be a Samsung??
Anyway, the speaker of those flat screen TV really CMI, best to use soundbar. Next time u change TV, sound bar still can use.

Before i got this Samsung, i have did also considered getting the Xiaomi TV, but was worried of warranty issues and shipping issues (damaged or DOA etc).

Anyway, how u got ur Xiaomi? Through those local seller or brought it in from Taobao?

The Xiaomi Mi TV 2 55" is great. The MIUI for the TV is not bad.

There is a support group on HWZ already :
Xiaomi TV Discussion Thread II [consolidated]

I decided to buy from a local agent here (paid about $200-$300 more) because I only have to pay them when they deliver the TV, power it up and show that the TV is ok. I heard that recovery via those shipping agent can be quite difficult (heard only, cannot confirm).

Plus they does offer some local support. When you need any help, can Whatsapp them and they do reply, although they may not reply immediately.

The Xiaomi Player app is really good. Can see this short demo :
