Base on the picture above, here's my noob plan and requirement:

1. 1 router in living room that provides wired connection to TV and service other mobile devices wirelessly in living room and kitchen.
2. Another router in bedroom 2 for 2 wired connections to service 2 workstations
3. A mesh node in Masterbedroom for wireless connection for mobile devices.

Here's my question:
Is there a better way to do this?
Can recommend me a good router to have for bedroom 2 and how do I set it up?
The mesh node in masterbedroom in this case should connect to router in bedroom 2 or living room? How do I set it up? Do i sign up for those $10/month plan from singtel or can I set it up myself? Is it easy to set up?

Thanks!

1st question

1. Is this a new BTO / EC / Condo?
2. Are you planning to pay network cable from Livingroom to Bedroom 2?
3. Where is your ONT located?

Thanks for your response Apex!

1. New BTO
2. There's a data point in every room, do I still need to lay network cable?
3. What is ONT?

I need the following:

1. Internet for TVin living room ( I guess wireless is also ok)
2. WiFi at MBR/Living Room/Kitchen for mobile
3. Heavy streaming + 2 workstation + 1 printer in Bedroom 2.

Are you able to advise me?

:)

if there is data point in every room u dun need to lay network cable.
ONT = Optical Network Terminal (basically is like our modem)

Collect keys already?

Base on what I understands new BTO already cable lay for you but

1. Either you need to convert Phone point to Data point (inside is network cable just the HDB provide you with a Telephone jack)

2. for new project will be Data point ready.

Now usually for new BTO your fiber point would be near the Door entrance or Power Circuit breaker (DB). And all your DATA point will also start from there (DB) area to all the other rooms.

Usually the ONT (modem old days term) will be place new the DB and your router will also be inside or near the DB.

1. So maybe you can't place your main router there (in your picture). Because bedroom 2 data point may start at the DB and not at the living room area in the picture.

2. If you collected the key you can verify the data point actually start where.

3. What ISP you plan to sign up?

Some sample picture how the setup may look like

OMG Thanks you!

I gotten my keys already. but I just didnt plan my network until today. They might be doing carpentry soon.

Mine is a new BTO project, each room got its own data point.

If I get get a velop I dont need a router right? Can I just connect the modem in the DB box and connect the velop to modem?

Oh okie.

Sound like your Network cable is already in place. Left only how you deploy the Mesh (Velop).

From the ONT to Velop is correct.

Well, we can always
1. pull a long optic fibre cable to the living room to put the ont there or
2. Do as per the thread in hwz
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/internet-bandwidth-networking-clinic-4/single-lan-cable-network-trunk-setup-without-loop-back-lan-wire-db-5749611-2.html#post113231702

Though I prefer option 1 as there is less electronics involved and I can be sure that my ont will have a longer life span.

Possible, refer to this post > [NEWS] Singtel to shut down ageing ADSL network in April 2018

Might as well read this thread > Linksys Velop - WiFi that sets you free
Any issue you can post there for assistance.

Anyway if there are data points available, any routers can do the job.
