You should test the wired performance to see if it near to 1Gbps first.

And then you need to diagnose the wireless. What is the router and what is the device used for testing? You should put your device near to the wireless router.

BTW, even though the free SingTel AC Plus is a lousy router, people are able to get decent wifi performance like 200-500Mbps when testing near to the router.

AC Plus coverage & speed is shiat. If not for my razer portal placed in the middle of my home, i cant imagine what its like.

ONR can not set to AP mode, it does not even have wireless. It is the main router.

If you have your own wireless router, yes it can be used with the ONR in two ways.

1) set to AP mode. This is the easy solution. ONR is the only router in the network. All device can see each other. But you lose many features of your own router in AP mode.

2) set to router mode.

Connect SingTel TV box to one ONR port if you have that.

Connect SingTel AC plus to one ONR port as a backup AP (optional) but do not power it up. This is just a backup.

Connect your router wan port to another ONR port. Set up your own router to use a different IP range from the ONR network. Connect other wired and wireless device to your own router. Effectively you have two networks now and double NAT. Some experts say this is not good but it actually works.

ok. I will plug my Linksys router into one of the ONR port. I would like to use the AC plus as an access point/switch in another room, can i plug it into my Linksys router port ? This way, all my current equipment will get all IP from existing Linksys router ?

Is it possible to change the IP range on the ONR? If I have to change the ip range on my linksys, then i might as well just use the ONR as main router.

HI, i log into the ONR , under LAN host configuration, the ip address and subnet cannot be changed ? Also the DHCP configuration (is that why there is a asterisk ?) sorry networking noob here

They want to change my ONR to Bridge mode subjected to the following terms and conditions :

-Network will be unmanaged by Singtel
- Singtel will troubleshoot only up to ONR, Home Digital Line (HDL) and Set Top Box (STB) (excluding STB behind 3rd party equipment).
- Future truckroll is chargeable at prevailing rates
- Future truckrolls would only cover replacement of ONR and STB if found to be faulty. Replacement of Singtel equipment found behind 3rd party or issue due to 3rd party would be subjected to prevailing rates.
- TV was not supported behind 3rd Party router
- Only 1Gbps is achievable via the bridge port

SO how ??? ANy idea ?

if you can self manage, why not. Using your own router has advantages. If you do not want to, then do not change it. But, if you are already on a 2gbps, then I guess you cant change it unledd you are ok with reduced speeds.

because it is using 1 port for internet connectivity whereby the rest of remaining 3 ports are rendered useless, each port have max. theoretical speed of 1Gbps full duplex. IMO even being able to achieve 700-800mbps is more than sufficient enough.

But another question of thought, IF each port of the ONR is 1Gbps speed, how will one achieve more than 1Gbps speed if subscribing to a 2Gbps plan, presuming the ONR is not bridged.

as onr doesnt support ethernet bonding, your connection from a single lan port cannot exceed 1gbps, aggregate between lan ports cannot exceed 2gbps.

HN8254 is reserved for 5/10gbps customers as it runs on XG-PON as opposed to GPON which is up to 2.4Gbps download, 1.2gbps upload

is this router configured as the onr? if it is an onr, the easier way will be to add wireless access points / mesh routers / extenders.

actually the ac plus wifi is quite decent. i place my ac plus downstairs and i did a speed test upstairs...the up and download speed can go up to about 400mbps depending on the time of the day (lowest recorded speed about 50 to 100mbps).

anyone watch dramas on kissasian using ONR ? it seems like Singtel knows we are watching kissasian and doing somthing funny to interrupt our viewing, like lots of pop up from youtube adverts ...

anyone experience that?
