Ibkr is interactive broker. Is the broker not asset we talk about

Are you investing with ibkr only? Is it iwda

If you invest in only iwda and at 1k per month, you dca next 10th of august. Not start of the month to be clearer

1000 in sgd yes but when investing in ibkr, it is in usd converted

hi just wanna be sure abt the 10 usd commision thingy..

we dca 1000 into ibkr every month right.. so lets say i bought my first ibkr on the 10th of July... does it mean i must dca in by 10th of august or do they go by start of the month means start frm july first..

2ndly. the 1000 that is always being discussed here is in SGD right? not 1000 usd right?

No.

But a sharp rise in interest rates won’t help that—it would cripple it. The policy mix that the US needs right now is low interest rates (which they have), loose fiscal policy (which they have), and a meaningful passthrough to wages (which they don’t have).

so is Trump accidentally doing the right thing with low interest rates?

at the same time, do you subscribe to MMT, Modern Monetary Theory for the American Economy? As it seems that a loose fiscal policy might be in line with MMT?

could you explain this part?
"meaningful passthrough to wages"
Is this the effect that increasing minimum wage increase prices?

Thanks in advance, like always.

Uh, you might want to read about the U.S. Federal Reserve and how it works. And it actually does work pretty well. If it didn't, the U.S. dollar wouldn't be the world's reserve currency and on one side of practically all international financial transactions.

Presidents (plural) have expressed their views about interest rates and monetary policy since the first one, but that doesn't mean they have anything much to do with setting them.

the Feds, they don't directly influence.
what they do has an indirect influence and they have been banded and disbanded a few times already.

1) I don't know, but I also don't think it matters. At worst, you'll be out an extra ten dollars.
2) Yes, it's SGD. $1k SGD is not the exactly right amount to cut over from Stanchart to IBKR, but it's near enough.

Hi Shiny, what's your opinion of using SRS to buy Lion Global All Seasons fund Standard/Growth?

No. The Lion Global funds are overly expensive. Avoid them.

so is Trump accidentally doing the right thing with low interest rates?

Trump doesn't control interest rates, as much as he'd like to.

Is this your economics homework?

Anyway, no, my point is not specifically about minimum wages. It's that American wages in general aren't growing very quickly—at least, not compared to the returns on capital.

hi ST,

nope. This isn't any economics homework.

I googled the term and wanted to make sure that I got what you mean.

In addition, your thoughts means alot to us as it has helped alot understand investing in an easy and safe manner.

TIA

Hi Shiny & BBCW and others, Saxo seems to charge stamp duty for ES3, is this expected? Does SCB and FSM also charge the same?

This is weird, I was not charged any stamp duty when I was buying with saxo previously. Have now moved to IBKR so can't check.

SCB shows stamp duty when the trade is made but does not actually charge it when the trade settles. Its a UI bug only.

To be clear, stamp duty does NOT apply to ETFs listed in London. If you are charged otherwise that's probably either a UI error or a mistake from the broker. The former being more likely in general.

This etf is listed on SGX. So it is even more weird that stamp duty is charged. I summed up the total deduction from my intial cash and it does appear that they took away that amount mentioned as stamp duty, so not a bug.

Edit: I notice there is some clearing fee and trading fee for sgx stocks that Saxo charges. I suspect it is clearing fee wrongly put under stamp duty.

The clearing fee for Singapore Stocks is 0.0325% of contract value and a trading fee of 0.0075% will be charged for all SGX stocks.
