Hi guys im a year 2 anf student.i was wondering, if i were to fail two papers this year, would i need to do year 4? Since they only allow a maximum of 5 mods per year and i have 4 new mods on top of the 2 i have to retake next year. I read the regulation about an unredeemed fail. What does that mean?
Hopefully someone can help me clarify:)

Sad but true, you are going to Year 4

Hello

So far I'm sure that I'll fail math 1 and Econs... Stats depends..

So in this case in year 2 I can only take Econs for resit right? But math 1 is also pre requisite for some modules.. Means I can't take those new modules in year 3 as well since I've to take math 1 resit in year 3 first?

Can I take math 1 as a independent candidate (since the 1 resit per year is SIM rule?) and others under SIM? will UOL allow that?

I am not sure where you get your info from but there isn't a one resit per year rule.i have friends who have to resit 3papers in year 2 because they failed in year 1 and it is completely ok.you can resit the failed modules first before moving on to take other modules.

I think the maximum module units per year set by the school is 5, where you can do a combination of 4 new modules and 1 existing resit. You can make it to 3 new modules plus 2 resits, as long as you maintain 5.

Not sure whether can the school allow us to take up to 5.5 module units or 6 module units for our final year though.

If I'm not wrong what SIM set depends on UOL's regulations, which is max 5 mods (both new mods and resits inclusive)

Can I still grad if i don't pass all 12 units?

You can graduate if you fail during your final year exam.
Fail 1 nothing happens.
Fail 2 will drop 1 honours classification.

But the thing is, you need to fail in final year.

For example, anf route, you fail intro to econs in first year, so retake in second year and fail again but eventually pass in third year. You won't be able to graduate since micro or ME you haven't taken. So you'll have to do 4th year.

But if you fail intro and pass second year and take micro in third year and fail it, you can drop it and graduate.

Yup. You can grad with max 2 fail in ur graduating yr but drop one class (eg. By right you get second upper, if you fail 2 mods, you get second lower). If you fail one mod, usually it doesn't affect ur class.

You can refer to the link of the regulation I posted in this thread one or two pages down.

POA PYP commentaries draw out the financial statement with the finalised cost and leave out depreciation steps in the statement. Instead they bracket [W3], referring to working 3 at the bottom. Is that how we should present our answer as well?

It doesn't really matter how you present. The main thing is that you need to show the workings. If you can squeeze everything onto that line, then okay ah. They just put W1/2/3 so it looks neater.

HI. I don't get the fail 2 mods drop one classification. Lets say I fail 3 mods in year 1 and over the next few years when I resit these failed mods from year 1 and get A's, will the A's be reflected as the new results or will the previously failed mods be reflected. Also does the fail 2 mods drop 1 classification apply to year 1 results?

Only applies to your graduating year.if you are year 1 or year 2,you can afford to fail as many mods as you want

I forgot if you retake, will they be taking your best result or the latest result.

But if you get A on the second try for year 1 modules, it won't affect your classification.

Anyway year 1 module's weightage ain't as high as year 2 and 3's.

in summary,

nothing happens if no show but prepare to pay 100% sim fee again. Show up & fail, pay 50% sim fee. UOL rates remain the same.

year 1 & 2

- fail as many as you like. if it's a foundation mod, prepare to stay back another year. since need to pass first before you can advance to the next level of mod
- can afford to fail 1 mod to advance to next year with a resit?
- a max of 5 mods per year. mix & match with your resits - provided you can take new mods.

year 3

- can afford to fail 2 but will drop a classification
- fail 1, won't affect your classification
- still can grad for first 2 points
