Hi seiko/marine master experts.. recently been bitten by the MM bug... would like to buy a SBDX017. Hope the wise bros here can help...

1. Want to ask, is it easy to find in Japan (tokyo)? I'm planning to go sometime this May, and plan to look for this while I'm over there. Any recommended place to find?

2. Heard it's recently discontinued.. is it really so? If so, should I just from local grey dealer? Noticed that several have recently restocked and claiming its their "last batch".

3. Also, where to get it serviced locally? I hear that local seiko service center dont support servicing jdm models...

Hope to hear some views, thanks in advance! :s12:

You are unlikely to find any at the discount stores (BIC/ Yodabashi) since they have been discontinued. All dead stock should’ve flown off the shelves. I was just in Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka the last 2 weeks.

I haven’t sent mine for servicing yet but I reckon thong sia will send it back to Japan for servicing. If not can always look to the local guys (eg JW).

Good luck with your search

Abit bad execution on the crown.
So protruding
I'd never really noticed it before tbh. Looks quite good on the wrist though and in my opinion, the oversized crown kinda suits the tool nature of this watch.

Can't help with no. 1, but Deployant.com is saying that they wrote to Seiko directly about the rumour of SBDX017 being discon'ed and Seiko debunked it -
https://www.deployant.com/sbdx021-sla019/

After introducing the green SZSC005 aka “Jade Monster” and SZSC004 aka “Green Sumo” into their ever-popular lines early this year, it came almost withoutÂ*surprise that Seiko introduced this Deep Forest “MM300” SBDX021 / SLA019 during Baselworld 2018, while confirming that, contraryÂ*to rumours, they have not discontinuedÂ*the latestÂ*Marinemaster 300 (SBDX017) in black.

As for #2, if my future SBDX017 were to have any issues, I think K2 will be the way to go.

I think it's the photo angle that exaggerates the crown size, it's not that bad really:

One of my wish list targets if I can find a good deal!

I like that it has sub minute markers. Exact time setting, and military like. Goes very well with the army green canvas strap. Rugged German feel. Like it too...

I would highly recommend it.
The accuracy from what I'd read before I bought it was meant to be very good and mine is only about +1/2 secs a day.
I clearly need to up my watch photography game!

Anyone bought watches at Swiss watch specialist along Bencoolen? Saw some of their listings online but not sure if reputable or not.

Hi bro, is there a normal black version of the deep forest green with the Prospex X logo?

It's a sellita movement.

You're right about the acquisition. From my experience, only WOS seem to carry Sinn, but their stores are usually quite close to Hourglass anyway.

This one is Jimmy shop, he is the owner. Nice guy once you get to know him. I find his trade/buy in rate are quite good. (Traded twice with him) If you happen to be there, do try the zenith steel daytona, I believe there is 2 black one on display. :)
