Yikes, my disk one in my DS213 is degraded (crashed).
I am running WD red iirc.
How do i check what is my raid setting?
Go to Storage management to view Raid setting

I can still access my files, does that my photos are safe and i can just replace with a similar drive and it will run again?
Yes, they are safe so long as remaining disk is fine.

Can i wait for the RMA and run with one disk first?
Yes and No. Yes if you got back of all in another HDD. No, if no backup. Grab a 7200rpm Toshiba HDD of same or bigger size to rebuild the raid.

Btw, WD Red has a long history of kaput in Synology NAS. Your remaining Red may fail any time.

Guys, i got my HGST HDDs
But when am looking at my storage manager,
it shows me disk 1 degraded, and disk 2 is initialized.

What does this mean?
When i removed disk 1, it do not show me disk 2
or rather, my photostation etc all not appearing.
it says that i have nothing installed. it like a bare NAS.

As of now, i can still read from disk 1 despite it being degraded.
How do i copy the files from Disk 1 to a new HDD? just insert a new HDD into bay 2 and press the physical copy button on the NAS?

Shouldn't i be able to read my files off disk 2 only if i am running Hybrid raid?

Just bought Samsung UA40JU6600 4K smart TV. Still struggling to playback video from ds414 nas. Already installed DS Video on Samsung TV and Video station on ds414.

At Samsung TV DS Video login screen, only IP address can enter. User and password grey out. Both NAS and TV connected to TP-Link switch to Linksys EA9200.

Anything I missed out?

Have go under control panel -> media indexing -> indexed folder and setup the access?
U might also want to use plex instead,got show movie thumbprint during selection. U will also need to install plex on the tv

As for Plex, I got "User does not have access to any server or shared content after install Plex on the TV & NAS.

I am using uPNP on my TV. Nothing to install on both NAS (except media server) nor TV.

No issue playing FULL HD content.

I am using both LG and Sony TV, both of which has a tab that will auto pick up upnp devices and allow me to browse my NAS contents and playback directly from it.
