Why didn't you consider waiting for the new MacBook Pro if you need better specifications?

Yes, that's why I am still considering. It is actually worth it to wait till next mth since there is chance that new MacBook pro maybe out. U?

I love the form factor for Macbook.

For me I only need the laptop for surfing, tv shows and excel.
So I didn't have intention to get the macbookpro. But someone commented that the entry level of MacBook Pro is cheaper than 2016 MacBook but with better specs. So I'm stuck...
I do like the portability of the 12 inch MacBook though and it's smaller charger.

Ur usage getting m3 2015 model will be more than sufficient. Challenger funan sells at rm1408. But guess no more stock now.

Current mbp is heavy, 1.56kg, vs 0.927kg

Mostly probably will be going with the 2016 macbook, since i don't require high specifications... How about you?

Confirmed will go for 2016. Maybe m7 512. M5 512 is only $18x difference in price. If go for m5 already that costs $22xx no reason to save the little $18x.

Was going through the same dilemma 2 weeks back as well.

2016 MacBook 256GB upgrade processor to 1.3Ghz ($1.9k) vs
2015 MacBook 512GB 1.2Ghz ($1.8k).

As I find the Rose Gold too girly, I decided that I want the Gold MacBook. Only plus point for Rose Gold is that people will know it's the 2016 model. But that is going against the color that I really liked.

After much consideration, I decided to go for the 2016 MacBook as I'm worried about the performance of the Core M processors. I was using a MacBook Pro 15" Retina, so thought
I should at least get the highest end Core M processor. Further, I wasn't able to find the 2015 MacBook in Gold at most retailers. Then I happily went for lunch and chanced upon the last unit of 2015 Macbook 256GB 1.1Ghz at 1.4k. MTL, I quickly bought it, still got some freebies at that price.

In the end, was pleasantly surprised that the speed of the lowest end MacBook was sufficient for my usage. I am using it for Microsoft office, surf net and watch movies. There is no lag, and I don't find it any slower than my MBP or 5k iMac as these activities doesn't require much processing power. Am loving the MacBook more than the other 2 Macs now. I actually like the MacBook keyboard much more than the wobbly keys on my MBP.

So for those of you who are looking to use it for checking emails, surf net and watch movies, any of the MacBooks are more than capable. Anyway, the MacBook is not supposed to be a powerhouse.

Good for u. The 2015 1.1Ghz model is actually very powerful enough also for daily tasks.

Did u get it at $1408? Gold color?

Nope, Challenger no more stock for Gold. I got it at GWC Best Denki @ $1443 using OCBC Best Rebate card, with free sleeve, keyboard protector and Macally USB C adapter. I saw it at airport Nubox $1488 before less GST too. That should be the best deal.

$1443 is after rebate price rite.

that's also no bad deal. that's about $275 comparing to the edu price of 2016 model $1718.

yup, everywhere is selling $1488, i think it is the standard discount price set by apple for all the 2015 model. only challenger funan gives extra discount which is $1418 with free sleeve and keyboard protector.

Yep, that is after rebate. The only useful thing is the Macally USB adapter, sleeve and keyboard protector are pretty useless. Does Challenger Funan still have stock?

Just saw this at their new online site,
https://www.hachi.tech/search?q=MacBook+12"+%28Intel+Core+M+
1.1Ghz @ $1368! Solid pricing, but no stock left. Seems like only left 1.2Ghz Silver @ $1738.
