Yah so sad right
HRV S$100K
In Malaysia RM$110K

Jazz 1.5 S$90K
In Malaysia RM$80K

Even after considering Malaysia is CKD, the difference is way huge

Some of their models got more safety features than the same models imported into Singapore.

Malaysia no COE , Car can use till no expiry date
Singapore 10 years Only
Guess making you a much happier person.

You have an option to migrate to Malaysia, convert to Malaysian then buy their car and come Singapore to work and live here if you like to.

Then you get to drive the Malaysia's car forever and enjoy the low (physical)car's cost forever.

Didn't know that
I guess depends on which variant
Looking at Honda HRV, the entry level 1.8L is pretty stripped down, another RM20K gets you the highest end variant with side and side curtain airbags amongst many other stuff

ya, why nobody do that??

make money from loan, the margin can be covered from high car selling price. its the same. whats the incentive of helping push up COE price?

simplistic example:
100k car = 50k car + 50k coe.. ppl loan 50%, 50k

they can also do
80k car = 79k car + 1 coe. ppl loan 50%, 40k

win-win for buyer and seller mah..
as long as the market sellers all sell around same price (e.g ~79k for that same model).. i dont think they will affect the sellers in anyway.. just like petrol price.

People not stupid & can do the maths, if dealer sell $80K for a $50K car, who in the right mind willing to let dealer earn $30K margin?

And price fixing is illegal under anti trust laws

ya, why nobody do that??

it's possible for all dealers to do that but game theory exists and hence you will never see it happen.

Human nature will defeat your idealistic proposition.

If A knows everyone else will bid at $1, A just have to bid $2 for guaranteed COE. Then B, who also wants to get a guaranteed COE will also bid $2. C, knowing now everyone is bidding $2, will bid $3 for guaranteed COE. And the chain effect goes on and on. :o

Well said and this is what dealers are 'saying' in our bidding scheme?

'You guaranteed want your car', so goto pay the premium price(set by themselves, duhz)

Have buyers ever question them?
No, causes this is our culture ba(No $ don't buy car zzzzzzZZZZZZZ).

Else they will suggest buyer to go for non-guarantee bid. But hor, they often come back to buyer to ask for top up if the different no too far off?

If disallow dealers to purchase COEs, the COEs will sure drop as buyers will not have time to monitor and play the last 15 mins, log in lah, key in multiple bids lah.

Dealers bid for COEs tendency will be higher cause they coordinating their sales, vehicle shipment, cash flow, bank facilities, etc.

no la, i already got my car, just wonder why ppl (agents) dun do this.

by your reply, their commission are secured based on the expense of buyers.. knn..

then i seriously think govt should ban agent from bidding, only direct buyers can bid
