Thanks!
Quite useful, seems like it is time to drop my accident plan.

I think PAStar is one of the cheapest option available, and a more comprehensive coverage I believe

Yeah u are right. Im with NTUC PA assurance which has about similar coverage and it cost $340 abouts. Covers me and my toddler.

With PAstar its about 150 to 200 abouts..didnt really sum up exactly as i just renewed my PA assurace 1 week go..damn

So expensive. I am paying around $171 for my AIA and I already find it expensive because the coverage and benefits not that great. I also this year renewed only, next year going cancel it.

You can get Personal Accident policies from General Insurers.
Those are the Insurers that do motor, fire, commerical insurers... non-Life Insurers like AIA, Prudential, great eastern etc.

Usually General Insurers lower commission and their products lower priced.

Got mine from Tokio Marine. TM365 $100k coverage for accidental death/permanent disability, $4000 coverage for medical expenses and a whole host of other benefits.

Costs just $130/year, even cheaper than PA star :s12:

Not all pa plans are the same..some cover infectious diseases like dengue fever and HMFD which if you have a toddler, i guess the prob. is higher to get.
Some have medical expenses coverage like outpatient, food poisoning, chicken bone stuck in throat, frcture. but some PA dont cover.

For example, aviva term SAF personal accident is also called a personal accident but it only pays out when one dies or dismembered in various degrees and not medical expenses paid out at all.

Actually, i am interested in PA plans more for their outpatient expenses...and not for death or disemberment as these most whole life, term insurance covers already

TM365 no infectious diseases like dengue and hfmd which risk is quite probable esp one have toddler....

PAstar still wins i think

TM365 does in fact cover for food poisoning, dengue and insect bites :s13: Just not HFMD and other infectious diseases like MERS, SARS, mad cow disease etc. You will have to decide on the probability of claiming for it and whether it is worth paying the additional premium to cover that risk

Then again, if you suay suay kenna one of those infectious diseases, you will most likely be hospitalized and that's where you can claim from your hospitalization insurance :s8:

Just pick the one which offers you the greatest assurance for all the risks which you are concerned about, at a premium which you are comfortable paying. Just do a rough comparison between the various companies, with sompo's PAstar as the benchmark and you will easily find out how much you ought to be paying for said coverage.

Like one poster mentioned, general insurance companies are usually cheaper than life insurance companies (NTUC Income, Great Eastern etc) for accident plans.

Of course, company bias-ness also plays a part which is why I'll never buy products from AIG :s13:
