Hi All,

Can anyone share the disadvantages of an EXPORT phone?

I saw from Q10 and Lazada, there are many sellers of Xiaomi EXPORT phones. I understand that usually EXPORT phones are cheaper and has shorter warranty. If the OS is already Global version and Playstore is already pre-installed by the seller, are there other things I should be aware of in buying an EXPORT phone?

Are there are disadvantages say, in the future if I perform factory reset, can I get back playstore easily?

Wait for real global rom to be released and flash it. Play store will always be there even if you factory reset the phone. The only disadvantage is lack of warranty.

What you mean by wait for global rom to be released? From what I see the MIUI is already the global version.

Miui global version is not for every Xiaomi phone model.

No official warranty.
May not have Play Store installed.
Even if have Play Store installed, they are always rooted and installer may also install malware into phone without knowledge.

Rather wait for phone to reach SG or at least TW, HK or IND that are Google services friendly..

The export set I bought was not rooted leh.. It was a China set but already have "global rom" and play store installed. And had no problem with playing pokemon go..

Nevertheless, I still went ahead to flash the official global rom..
