Thanks, saw your thread on D-Link's new range extender.

It looks a bit big to me though...

Yes, I think it looks quite big too... not sure how it really look though but seems like its a good option when there are a lot of corners in the house and you cant use powerline to extend coverage...

I just check with Challenger last night. This range extender will arrive at all outlets by this weekend!

When you guys say highest spec, do you guys mean just speed?

Linksys now has a MU-MIMO range extender, the RE7000. But yeah it's an AC1900, so not as fast as AC2600.

Hey guys. I got some question about Range Extender.

1. I have a AC88U in the living room, usually i get strong wifi signal here. But once i move to my room it drops to like 1-2 bar only.
2. I want to improve the wifi in my room, so do i just buy a range extender ?
3. Does it have to be the same brand as my router in the living room ? - Asus
4. Do i have to set up another wifi connection? or it will auto connect to the strongest signal , either the router in the living room or the range extender in the bed room.

If you have data points ( lan cabling network ), installing access point is preferred.

Else you can only fall back on Range Extender, HomePlugs or Wi-Fi Mesh.

You can set the same name ( SSID ) for convenience. But on the other hand you won't know which signal ( AC88U or Range Extender ) is the culprit when you have Wi-Fi issues. I would recommend having seperate SSIDs.

Xonix, i have been doing some research since u last reply my message.
I thinking of using asus roaming assist.
I had my ac88 in the living room and another asus cheapo router in the bedroom in AP mode. Then i use roam assist to switch over seamlessly. Wat u think?
