Also, I'd recommend for you to get the international version of yi home 720p
Apparently there's more features for motion detection exclusive for international version such like motion detection sensitivity & user defined motion detection region (instead of monitoring everything in the area).

Btw, if your camera version is 20160622 (check the back of the camera) there's a hardware lock for those model (anything after June) so upgrading/downgrade from sdcard won't work.

Hi. I was just about to ask this question too. When using wifi at home and in the office, I can connect to the camera and watch. But on 3G/ 4G, it is unable to connect at all.

What could be the possible reasons? Can anyone advice? Thanks

i think someone in my family accidentally upgraded the firmware of my cameras.
i managed to flash one back to old firmware and its working.

but one is always saying "waiting to connect" flashing amber light. i can't reset even though i pressed the reset button.

Dear all, unfortunately i just received my 2nd purchase of xiaoyi from taobao. but this round they gave me production date in 22062016, 17CNYxxxxx. Anyone has solution for this? totally unable to flash any firmware at all.
Previous purchase was 12CNYxxxxx, no problem with flashing firmware, i.e. downgrading the firmware to enable usage in Singapore.

Hope to hear from any master soon.

i think the latest firmware prevents you from downgrading into the hacked firmware. the reset button may not work so just insert the SD card with the "home" file and power cycle the camera.

i used this version for the first step of downgrade https://yadi.sk/d/KCkz0xjpjmK5o this version will still speak in chinese but at least the reset button is working.

There's a way, but it's a bit on the technical side where you have to open the camera and connect via serial port to get console.

1. Serial port for CNxx160622
Check the following image. There are 3 contact points, and I connect to board via the 3 contact points, not from the 4 pin connector.
TTL voltage level is 3.3v, and baud rate is 115200.

2. For 1.8.6.1C, there is a factory test script. And if you put a script on SD card and path is “test/factory_test.sh”, then the script be execute automatically after the camera booted. But the script is removed on 1.8.6.1Q.

3. I wrote a scrip to make the camera work again outside China.
Download the file, and decompress it to root of SD card.

If your device’s FW is 1.8.6.1C, you just need to insert the SD card into your camera, and it will hack your device automatically, when it finished, the camera will reboot automatically, then your camera is free.

If your device’s FW is 1.8.6.1Q, you need to connect your camera via serial port to get console, then insert the SD card into your camera, when you see the command prompt, just type “/tmp/sd/hack_yi.sh”, then your camera is free.

Same here. I got 2 Xiaoyi IP Camera. 1 is 1.8.5.1K and the other 1 is 1.8.6.1B.

My home internet and phone is from Starhub. I am encountering the same thing as you.

But my friend, who is on SingTel for home fibre and mobile phone still can view on his phone.

What is your home fibre and mobile phone provider?

Having purchased one months ago, I am equally screwed for purchasing another two but with the latest firmware. The new firmware does not respond to any manual flashing of old firmware via the microSD card or executes any of the scripts stored in the microSD card. Yes, the sticker behind says 17CNXXXXXXX .

I am purchasing a TTL serial cable and see if I have the luck in getting a serial console and execute the script manually. The cable will only arrive first week of Oct16. Will share with you guys on my results.

I find that in the provided pic, the 4pin connector was marked with VCC RX1 TX1 GND, which lead me to believe that this is the TTL connector, as opposed to the marked 3 pin on the PCB itself. Anyway, will try it out.
