Hi guys.

My old computer broke down a few days ago and I decide to go to Sim Lim square tomorrow to walk around and maybe get a custom computer made.

Problem is that its my first time trying buying a "custom computer" and I have no idea what I can get for my budget.

So can you guys give a build suggestion before I make my trip there?

I have a budget of $850 but can stretch up to 900+ ish if I live on the cheap for a while.

Mainly would use for gaming and editing/rendering work for school.

Thanks in advance

It's unlikely that your entire PC died. Unless it is really ancient i.e. pre-Sandy Bridge :) , you should be able to salvage a few parts.

hmmm...

i5-6400 + MSI H100M Pro VHL @382
2x8GB DDR4-2133 @ 104
WD Blue 1TB @ 74
FSP Hexa Plus 550W @68
Tecware Alpha @69
Zotac GTX950 @259

Total 966

I am going with this suggestion for now, but I would like to know what renderer you are actually using, and if you are going to use GPU rendering

Not sure if it's the right answer but I'm using V-ray In 3dsmax to render my stuff.

Yes I am :look: sounds like it's gonna cost more now

Eh no...

I see the rig just posted by luibin, should be just fine

I don't think Archviz (I am guessing what you mainly do based on the apps you use) needs a heapload of VRAM if you use GPU rendering

So RAM,CPU+Motherboard buy from PC Themes and the rest buy from Lazada.

So after I bought everything can I bring everything to PC Themes to assemble for me? or Should I do it myself since the only thing i'm not too confident about is sticking the CPU into the motherboard

Sticking CPU into motherboard is very quick and easy. Watch a couple of videos and see if you have some more confidence. After u try it, you will be thinking "wth why was I so worried".

If all you really are worried about is putting the CPU in, why not ask PCT to open the mobo and CPU box and install the CPU plus heatsink fan. Then slip the mobo back into the antistatic bag and bring the box home to assemble the rest of your PC with. Otherwise need to lug the case and other parts here and there very heavy...
