How u disable yr Asus wifi?
I am planning to switch to VQwest and getting the Asus Router 88
Now that bro yureak and u proposed Unifli AP I am very kancheong spider

bro if you're not gonna use the broadcasting functions dont get AC88. Use your existing router will do. I'd rather u use ur budget to place more APs so you get better coverage

Companies, Hotels, Shopping Centres and professional installations all dont use all in one routers.

They use enterprise grade access points. High-end residences and landed properties are also adopting these.

Reason being are that the laws of physics will never allow you to overcome distance with increasing power effectively. You need multiple access points (and I dont mean repeaters because those dont work well).

And we want speed plus reliability so once you set it up, you dont have to tinker with it and worry about random disconnections or speed slowing when you have many people using it at the same time (these are designed for concurrent loads).

Plus you can also do cool things like what you'd get in a hotel or starbucks

If 4 room, all in 1 kym? place it at LVR?

Your sonos has its own mesh network independent of wifi i think.

Nono. Those routers that you buy off the shelf like ASUS AC68, Netgear Nighthawk etc aren't primarily designed to work like this and dont provide the same advantages as professional, enterprise-grade stuff does.

You can ask Repsol why his AC88 has been relegated to simple routing duties while the actual broadcasting is done by his professional access points like the one below.

https://www.ubnt.com/unifi/unifi-ap-ac-pro/

Also a big problem is that consumer-grade products dont use Power over Ethernet. You have to run your network cabling in addition to your power brick. Whereas for my setups, i centralise everything i need in the DB box and all I have to do is run a single ethernet cable to each Access Point and its all done. The access points can be 30 or 50m away it doesnt matter.

Whereas if you use your AC68, it's likely that you'll hide it in your network closet near to your door or your tv console at the front of your house. That is horrible placement and worsens the range because you're essentially broadcasting to your neighbour.

In this case no need buy the most expensive router liao?
Just get a $100 one and get UNIFI? <-- cost how much?

Those atas switch and socket if we buy from taobao cheaper or we buy from ccm in singapore cheaper huh ? Anyone knows ?
No Safety Mark, and either no UK 3-pin sockets or if there are any they're very good at hiding because it seems none of the people in here claiming they want to buy from Taobao have been able to find any.

Consumer wifi good for short burst n looks nice on speed test. When streaming video or download huge file over the network. They throttle a lot. Up and down to zero few seconds later up again then down. Dam irritating. Got pissed off. I shut down asus wifi n buy the unifi AP. Problem solved.

That's why i support downloading over lan.. :s13:

Srsly ar, my wifi is at most stream those YT videos, save mobile data nia..

Any downloads would be on my desktop..

And now... we have a good solution for wifi to do everything you can minus the wire but still at near wired speeds

Depends on your layout..

My 5ghz is 2 bar in my MBR, 2.4ghz is full strength..My AC88U is inside my DB box near my main door..

But my flat layout is not the typical LR-BR2-BR1-MBR but instead BR2-LR-BR1-MBR

3 fold reasons i recommend LR.

1. Depending on the layout, Lite may be insufficient. We generally try to avoid maxing out TX because then the radio gets shouty
2. Cost differential is much smaller than LR vs Pro which makes it the best value proposition (diff only bout $50 off the top of my head)
3. 2.4ghz is faster on LR than Lite

So means house router inside box? What about TV?
Don't understand the ones in BOLD.

router wifi turn off. Use external AP as wifi. My TV connect to nearby lan port on wall that goes back to db connected to the switch. I used up all my rooms lan port somehow except mbr.
