i think some of e explanation might not be valid

assuming if its e end merchants or VISA/MASTER who assigned the codes, then the online offline classification should be standardized across all online CC e.g. SCB singpost, DBS live etc, yet i notice certain transactions that are categorized as online to SCB/DBS are excluded from OCBC, and latter conveniently says its due to VISA or master classification

i am not using any OCBC cards so cant be bothered, but if i am in others' shoes or lost out huge sum of rebate because of this, i will write in to MAS or CASE to seek an inquiry, because all institution should win market share and profits based on level playing field, not tweak here or there to mislead consumers

Hi Yachtmaster,

If you have not received your cards, or if it was stolen, do call our hotline at 1800 363 3333.

Our service executives will be able to put a block to the cards, and send a replacement.

Should you not wish to receive a replacement card, we could assist with a termination instead.

If the subject card was the cc sales staff who put extra ticks for his own additional commission in a roadshow, the user would not know he had an "existing" card

Just cancelled mine few days ago. There are better credit cards from other banks who are more than willing to waive annual fees for you...

anyone has any luck in waiving off OCBC 365 credit card annual fee?

quote me reason that I did not spend > $10,000 in a year hence can't waive off..

Hi Yachtmaster,

Should you have received a bill from an existing card under your name that you are unaware of, do give us a call, or drop us a PM.

Our service executive could help check on the card account, and assist to terminate the card.

Hi PatrickTheStarFish,

We are sorry to learn that your waiver request was unsuccessful. All waiver requests are thoroughly reviewed before an outcome is given.

As mentioned by our service executive, auto annual fee waiver will be granted when customers hit the minimum spend of $10,000 in the card anniversary year.

This information can be found on our website, as well as on the credit card statement.

OCBC, can you clarify why is it OCBC does not recognise redmart as online whilst all the other banks, who use the same "codes assigned by Visa" can correctly identify it as an online transaction? Could it be perhaps that OCBC is reading the SAME codes differently from these other banks? Perhaps you can also share the specific code that OCBC is reading from a Redmart transaction? Thanks!

Hi vince123123,

We can’t comment on other banks practices.

If our systems can detect the Redmart transaction as online, then we will avail the rebate straightaway.

Should you need to check on your transactions, do drop us a PM with more details, and we will arrange for our service executive to call and advise.

I only wish to cancel the debit card, not the savings account.

Hi Swisspers,

Have you managed to terminate your debit card?
If not, do drop us a PM with your contact details, and also advise us on the debit card type you are intending to terminate.

Thank you.

Even if we disregard other bank's practices, given that OCBC is basing it on "Visa's codes", could OCBC explain how it uses these codes and reads them.

My understanding is that there is an "online indicator" code for online transactions. But I don't know if OCBC uses that same indicator or something else hence the discrepancy between other banks who read the same set of codes.

I think it is simply too complicated to use OCBC cards.

Actually I was one of the rare souls who still use their Frank card till recently when they start to exclude straightforward retail/online transactions. Their creativity in classifying transactions into category such as "others" or "non-online" is number 1 in SG.

same here. siao one. who in the right mind will spend $10,000 on this useless card when the benefits are not transparent and almost non-existent.

first need $400 offline spend. after that customers are at the mercy of their special "hidden/secret" methodology of classifying transactions.

people, just cancel the useless card and save yourselves from all the unnecessary angst.

Yes long ago I also got 6% rebates for redmart using Frank. In my recent billing (Nov), there's no more rebate. OC's rewards/rebate system is getting far far too obscure....

This is indeed an interesting development because it does indicate that it is not just an issue of how OCBC reads or interprets the "Visa codes" compared to other banks, but whether the method OCBC uses to read and interpret these same codes have changed over time or perhaps these codes themselves might have changed over time. Would be good if OCBC can clarify.

I guess there's nothing they can or will clarify?

They will usually ask us (the customers) to call into their useless call center (always unavailable, always busy) to speak to their call center agents who will always "escalate" to the relevant department. A few days later, they will revert with reply with craps that simply does not make sense.

Yes OCBC is good at giving valueless politically correct replies which is as good as no answer.

Wow after reading all this post, maybe i have taken my 365 card for granted, if they can increase 10k minimum in June 2016 without informing us, how much will they increase in 2017.

Perhaps its time to switch to UOB one card, have post here saying no annual fee and easy to waive. True?

Let's give them a couple of days and a chance to reply :)

haha even if they reply, can bet it'll be the same copy and paste scripted non-answer from above. let's see..

"We can’t comment on other banks practices.

useless system is useless.
